Form-finding is a way to think about architecture introduced in the late 19th century by Antoni Gaudi and carried out by visionary architects and engineers like Pier Luigi Nervi, Eduardo Toroja, Félix Candela, Heinz Isler, Richard Buckminster Fuller, Frei Otto. Those designers have gone beyond the traditional drawing techniques using rather a set of experimental tools based on physicals model such as soap films, suspended fabric and branched structures. Modern digital techniques give a new impulse to this field of architecture, particle-spring systems allow us to
rapidly produce virtual models to investigate forms in real time.
